Theoretical coverage - on a perfectly flat, non-porous surface,
a 2kg mixed pack of Koi-Kote will cover an
area
of 8 square meters. |
Consideration
should therefore be given when calculating the Koi-Kote required for
application to concrete
blockwork
or screeded surfaces as both the porosity and roughness of these will
influence the amount of Koi-Kote used. |
As
render and concrete block composition vary so much it is extremely
difficult to advise of the exact
quantity
of product required particularly for the first coat. |
The
viscosity of Koi-Kote (i.e. it's ability to flow) is directly linked
to the ambient temperature. Therefore at |
10°C
it will be noticeably thicker and more difficult to apply than at
20°C. As a consequence it is more difficult to spread Koi-Kote
at low temperatures with the result that less area is covered at a
greater thickness. |
As
a rule the first coat of Koi-Kote is that which "Soaks in"
and a 2kg unit can cover as much as 6 (on a fibre
filled
render) and as little as 2 square metres (on a standard concrete block). |
Note:
We would not generally recommend application directly to a concrete
block as these tend to be full of |
blown
air pockets and "sponge like", hence the very low coverage
rate. |
With
the first coat applied the second tends to be a lot easier to put
on and also covers a larger area (more
like
7-8 square metres). |
With rendered surfaces we strongly recommend that a fibrous additive
is used (such as Wizard Fibre - 01622
555
5550) this will both reduce porosity and stop cracking of the render
when drying. |
